How Does Your Irrigation System Save Water?
Irrigation systems have been used by civilized society for thousands of years, which has given us a lot of time to refine and improve the way we do things. Modern day irrigation systems don’t just deliver water where it’s needed most, they save water too because of the precise distribution control less water goes to waste!
Without giving too deep of an explanation your irrigation system will save you water because it’s strategically placing the water on your lawn or garden using a computerized controller that routes the water through the appropriate zone and distributes it using special sprinkler heads. A properly installed irrigation system will be able to evenly distribute the water so that none is wasted.

How Do Sprinkler System Zones Work?
If you’re not familiar with irrigation or sprinkler systems yet, you might have heard the term “irrigation zone”. When planning and installing your lawn or garden sprinkler system we’ll be dividing your property up into zones. By zoning your property we are ensuring that Zone A (or Zone 1) is going to receive X amount of water for X amount of time and Zone B (Zone 2) is only going to receive Y amount of water for Y amount of time. There could be many zones depending on the complexity of your lawns, gardens, and landscaping.
The establishing of your sprinkler zones allows your sprinkler system to discharge precise amounts of water for fixed periods of time depending on the particular needs of that section of your property. This reduces water usage significantly, while still keeping your lawns and gardens vibrant and healthy.

How Much Will a New Irrigation System Cost?
That is the million dollar question right there! It’s impossible to give someone an accurate or even ball park price for their sprinkler system installation over the Internet. There are just too many variables that must be factored into our equations. For that reason a site visit and consultation is really the only way (and best way) to move forward.
During a site visit we’ll be taking accurate measurements, getting a feel for the lay and size of your land and taking note of the different plants, trees, and grassy areas that require watering. We can determine how much water is needed and for how long. After we’ve got these little details an accurate estimate can be put together for you rather quickly.

Small System
$1500-$3000
This would be for a small 1 or 2 zone sprinkler system for a small lawn or garden. This would include installation, parts, and controller.
Medium System
$3000 - $7000
This would be for a small 2 to 4 zone sprinkler system for a medium sized lawn and 1 or 2 garden beds. This would include installation, parts, and controller.
Large System
$8000 - $15,000+
This would be for a small 4 to 6 zone sprinkler system for a larger estate or large commercial property. This would include installation, parts, and controller.

After hours and hours trying to figure out why one of my irrigation zones wasn't putting out enough pressure, I called Max at White Oak. Wow, 2 hours later not only had he isolated the issue and fixed it, they replaced my old heads with new ones, increasing the coverage over my lawn. We were so happy to find this great landscaper. Good communication and nice to work with. We wanted some work done on our overgrown front yard and mentioned another project. They gave good suggestions and grouped it all together into one fairly priced job. They squeezed us into their schedule and did the work in one day. We were so happy we immediately requested another job, which they did the following week. The gravel settled and was a little low, but they had no issue topping it off and smoothing it out, which they had anticipated needing to do. WOW!!! I got an early Christmas present. Taylor and Noah prepared my gardens for winter. I had not been able to weed 2 of them for over a year due to some health issues. Max and his team greatly improve the landscaping around our home in NW Portland in preparation for listing it for sale. From a design perspective, he had a wonderful strategy of where to focus on a large property to maximize value. The installation and irrigation was done correctly and without issues. The new gardens showed really well, were easy to maintain during the sales period, and we more than recouped our landscaping investment with Grandiflora Gardens.
I’ve never seen such professional and aesthetically minded landscapers. Lex and Zach knew their equipment (and used it SO efficiently!) that I could trust their work at an extremely high comfort level. Our job was not done as early as expected, but it was because of a very wet spring and our location/soil type. If I had the money, I’d hire this company for all my landscaping needs. They suggested good options for situations, and let me choose the option I liked, even when it wasn’t their favorite. Great company, and incredible staff.

I highly recommend Earth, Water & Wood. I had some difficulty finding someone who would take care of basic mowing for my lawn in Milwaukie at a reasonable price and I finally found it with these guys. They do a great job at mowing but not scaring my lawn and have great crews that come to do the work. I will definitely follow through and use them again next spring when lawn season starts up again.
